Wet-Plate Collodion on Glass
Malta – Wet Plate Prints
Price on request
Malta's landscapes, captured as they would have been seen in the Victorian era. Each image is made on location with a large-format camera: a glass plate is hand-coated with collodion, sensitised in silver nitrate, exposed for a few seconds and developed while still wet. The result is a direct positive on glass, with soft highlights, deep shadows and an almost three-dimensional depth that digital photography cannot replicate. There is no negative and no copy, so every plate is one of a kind.
